Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Information Architect to help organize our ecosystem of information, primarily through documentation. Working with our product, learning,, support and consulting teams, you will map out the current landscape of our product documentation and help shape the future of Hornbill's technical information.

With a background in technical documentation/content design in the enterprise software space, as well as demonstrable experience working with technical teams, you will posses experience with complex business applications, including a good grasp of concepts around workflow, automation, service management, CRM or other related general enterprise business SaaS applications.  You'll be well-versed in advocating for and implementing standards and processes, creating frameworks of technical information, and working cross-functionally to ensure the needs of our customers, application and citizen developers are met and simultaneously aligning product, enablement, and support teams towards creating a well-structured library of documentation and enablement resources.

The focal point will be overseeing our documentation efforts, including being responsible for the ongoing development and evolution of our own documentation platform https://docs.hornbill.com, you'll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and build the content strategy, roadmap, and oversee the development of materials.

Responsibilities

  • You will be the primary owner of our documentation system https://docs.hornbill.com/ as well as all the content contained within. 
  • Meeting with relevant stakeholders from product and customer-facing teams to determine the current product & information landscape, and to identify the scope of required information projects and initiatives.
  • Participating in the process of product design where required to ensure fit-for-purpose and cost-effective high-level requirements, ensuring there is good technical documentation to support pre-and post development efforts.
  • Balancing development requirements with customer needs to produce a content landscape that delivers value for
  • Designing prototypes for informational architecture flows and
  • Developing infrastructure and coordinating content creation and design
  • Ensure that information is available and accessible both on our docs website as well as building out in-app, in-the-moment product documentation. 
  • Contributing to content development and overseeing content templates, standards, and best practices.
  • Evaluating the performance of information architectures and content through analysis and research and innovation.

Requirements

  • Excellent grammatical, design, and UX
  • Ability to understand, grasp and articulate both technical and business use case concepts, being comfortable both in the details and transcending levels to produce meaningful content.
  • Research and data analysis
  • Willing and able to interact with our internal technical, our customer and partner communities in relation to enablement and knowledge sharing through documentation, blog articles and other similar communications channels. 
  • You will be very comfortable with, and a champion for the use of the core technologies we use for creating documentation, these include: -
    • Markdown for written content (as well as your favourite text editor, plugins and tools)
    • A basic working knowledge of  HTML/CSS for when Markdown is not quite enough.
    • You will use GutHub for content organization, management, and revision control.
    • Our documentation system is conceptually modelled on the Microsoft Learn documentation platform.
