Hornbill Announces Extended CHEST Offers

October 7th, 2004 -- Hornbill is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with Eduserv CHEST (Combined Higher Education Software Trust) to extend the Offers currently in place for a further year, to 31 August 2005.

Eduserv Chest acts as a focal point for the supply of software, data, information, training materials and other IT related products to educational institutions in the UK and abroad. It is a not-for-profit organisation acting on behalf of UK and Ireland Higher and Further Education and the Public Sector. The two Offers negotiated with Hornbill are for the supply of Supportworks and Assetworks.

Supportworks 6.0 is an entirely configurable service management application suited to any helpdesk or service desk environment. Industry specific templates are available for multiple service desk disciplines including, IT Helpdesk, ITIL compatible Service Desk, Customer Service & Support, Facilities, amongst others, which provide an out-of-the-box service management solution. Supportworks may be fully integrated into a service portal environment, allowing multiple service desks to operate from a single server and database, which provides a common support interface across the organization and dramatically reduces maintenance overheads and operational costs.

Assetworks Discovery 4.0 is a comprehensive inventory solution that captures extensive software, hardware, OS and network and application information, which is held in a central database for subsequent browsing and management reporting. Deployed remotely, there is no need to visit a computer to start auditing. The solution also provides Software License Consolidation with standard reports that creates visibility and control of software assets. Information collected by Assetworks can be used by software licence compliance tools such as Software Organiser used by organisations like FAST and BSA.

Commenting on the extended CHEST Offer, Patrick Bolger, Hornbill’s Sales & Marketing Director said, “We have had great success in the academic sector and have added several of the UK’s leading universities to our customer list. With so many academic institutions focusing on the provision of Service Portals, Supportworks ability to service several support desks from the same platform is of great appeal. These offers provide a saving of between 20 and 44% to CHEST members and I am delighted to be able to extend it for another year”
